According to the Gun Violence Archive, there were 46 mass shootings in the USA in February 2024. These incidents resulted in 98 deaths and 121 injuries. A mass shooting happens when four or more people, excluding the perpetrator(s), are shot in one place at about the same time.

Some notable shootings in February 2024 include:

1. Kansas City Parade Shooting (February 14, 2024): During a Super Bowl victory rally for the Kansas City Chiefs, a shooting occurred. One person, Leah Galvan, a local radio DJ and mother of two, was killed, and at least 21 others were injured.

Two suspects, Gary Garcia and Timberland Wayne McNeely, were arrested. They are believed to be gang members and involved in three other shootings that night, resulting in three more deaths and one injury.

2. Granite City Police Officer Shooting (February 7, 2024): A Granite City police officer was shot while responding to a call. The officer, whose name hasn’t been released, is expected to survive. The suspect, who remains unidentified, is still at large and considered armed and dangerous.

3. Gary Homeless Man Shooting (February 6, 2024): Terry Davis, a homeless man, was shot and killed behind an abandoned liquor store in Gary, Indiana. Two men, Jarvis Sanders and James Hill, were charged with murder.

Sanders was alleged to be the shooter, while Hill, a former police officer, allegedly helped dispose of the body and the weapon. However, the case was dismissed on February 14, 2024, due to insufficient evidence and lack of cooperation from witnesses.
