Movie Removed from Netflix Amid Backlash for Allegedly Hurting Religious Sentiments

An FIR (First Information Report) has been filed against actress Nayanthara, film director Nilesh Krishnaa, and another individual for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. The legal action was taken in response to the controversy surrounding the movie ‘Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food’, which was abruptly removed from Netflix just hours after its OTT debut.

The movie, which quickly rose to become the platform’s second-most-watched movie in India, sparked allegations of promoting ‘love Jihad’ and hurting Hindu sentiments. The plot revolves around a young woman, the daughter of a Hindu priest, aspiring to become the nation’s top chef. The narrative includes a cross-religious romance, leading to allegations that the movie promoted ‘love Jihad’.

In response to the controversy, Zee Studios, one of the film’s co-producers, issued a letter expressing their willingness, in collaboration with Netflix and Trident Arts, to “remove the film from the platform until edited”. Netflix removed ‘Annapoorani’ from its library on January 11. However, the future of the film remains uncertain.

  1. Thanks for the useful information on credit repair on this excellent blog. A few things i would offer as advice to people will be to give up the mentality they can buy now and fork out later. As a society all of us tend to do this for many things. This includes holidays, furniture, as well as items we’d like. However, you have to separate the wants from the needs. When you’re working to improve your credit rating score you have to make some trade-offs. For example you are able to shop online to save cash or you can click on second hand shops instead of expensive department stores pertaining to clothing.

  2. I抦 not that much of a online reader to be honest but your sites really nice, keep it up! I’ll go ahead and bookmark your site to come back in the future. Cheers
